Avinash Mendrani | Aspiring Contributor to OpenMRS
Hello OpenMRS Community,
My name is Avinash Mendrani, a Third-year undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
I have a strong interest in building technology that creates real-world impact, especially in domains like healthcare where innovation can directly improve lives. I’ve been following the mission and work of OpenMRS, and I deeply admire the community’s commitment to building open-source solutions that support health systems around the globe.
My technical background includes working with:
I’m currently involved with various technical communities, including Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors, GDSC, and GeeksforGeeks. These experiences have shaped my collaborative mindset and enhanced my ability to contribute meaningfully to large-scale, community-driven projects.
Through this forum, I hope to connect with experienced contributors, gain a deeper understanding of the OpenMRS ecosystem, and begin contributing to ongoing development efforts. In the long term, I aim to prepare a strong and thoughtful proposal for Google Summer of Code 2026, aligned with OpenMRS’s mission and current project needs.
I look forward to learning from all of you and contributing to something that has a genuine global impact.

Hello everyone!
My name is Danyelle, and I’m a career changer transitioning from a background in biomedical sciences to software development. I initially pursued medicine but later realized I wanted to contribute to healthcare in a different way. After attending a software development program, I saw how I could make an impact through technology.
I’m excited to begin contributing to OpenMRS and to support its mission of improving global healthcare through open-source tools. My goal is to learn as much as I can, make meaningful contributions, and apply for GSoC next year.
Looking forward to connecting with and learning from you all!
Best, Danyelle
