Google Code-in 2019 Student and Mentor meet and greet

Hey everyone! I’m Disha Talreja.

  • The thing about Google code In that fascinated me the most is that it gives real world software development experience to pre-university students and with the help of google code in only I came to know about the concept of open source so for me it is great platform.

As for OpenMRS, I really liked the concept of writing code and saving lives and I also learned that OpenMRS supports multiple languages and can store complex data such as sound files and radiology images which is indeed great. The best thing that i found out about OpenMRS is about an embedded workflow service which allows patients to be put into programs(studies, treatment program) and tracked through various states and it could be of great help to the patients.

  • Unfortunately no, I did not participate in Google Code In previously.

  • I’m looking forward to contribute to the OpenMRS community in every possible way and to learn and experience a lot of new things.

Hi there, I am Varenya. I am very excited to start GCI with OpenMRS.

  • What I found interesting is that we can learn so much from GCI and do tasks for OpenMRS. It also helps us to contribute to the open-source softwares.
  • No, I didn’t participate in the GCI in previous years.
  • Looking forward to lots of engaging learning and making awesome friends.

Hi, Welcome to OpenMRS community. All the best for your tasks. Thanks

Hi, I can’t begin to explain how excited I am to participate in GCI with OpenMRS this year.

  1. I find it interesting that Google Code-in has the ability to make people learn new things. And I admire the healthcare services of OpenMRS and how their applications are so powerful and easy to use.

  2. Yes I did participate in Google Code-in last year. Although I did only 4 tasks as I started in the last week, I was able to win a T-Shirt and that’s what empowered me to do GCI last year. I participated with OpenMRS and NS-3

  3. I expect from OpenMRS to continue doing their best for the participants in GCI, and I know that the mentors are busy but just like every other participant I do expect the reviewing process to speed up. :))

Happy Coding!!!

Hi, I am Aarav iam very excited about GCI 2019

  1. Google Code-In is a open source competetion. It is great initiative for students around the world to share ideas and work on one big project,OpenMRS plays a major role in this process.
  2. NO , but i have been hearing it from last 2 years
  3. Great community , friendly and intelligent people who saves lives.

Hi, I’m ghostviper122, excited to start GCI 2019 with OpenMRS

  • The best thing about OpenMRS lies in it’s tagline “Write Code, Save Lives” , what can be more better than saving lives with your code? And talking about GCI, it isn’t just a contest but a platform to learn and contribute to open-source softwares, for many it’s their first interaction with open-source and that’s what makes OpenMRS and GCI special.
  • Yes, I participated in GCI 2018 from OpenMRS itself, but I couldn’t contribute much apart from some design based tasks. But this year I learned to code, got myself into the OpenMRS community and I hope I’ll able to contribute more this year(Infact, already started).
  • I’m looking forward to meet some amazing people along the journey of GCI 2019 and together make our community even greater.

Cheers :tada:

Hi, I’m just looking in for the given tasks from GCI 2019 and to complete it. This is the reason for me why I’ve joined it.

Hi, I am Pritish Sharma, a 16 year old IT enthusiast, well i’ve been with OpenMRS since last year when i participated in Google Code-In but, i could’t contribute much as i joined the community and contest very late so this year, i was very clear with my choice of organization, i look forward to have some great time working for OpenMRS and as they say “Write Code, Save Lives” everyone  cheers

Hello everyone! I’m Caden and I’m so excited to be working with OpenMRS for this year’s GCI!

  1. I find OpenMRS’s mission very intriguing. It is very inspiring how OpenMRS works to improve health care for these underdeveloped countries, where people are unable to access desperately-needed improved health systems. I find it exciting to be able to make a difference through my code. Everyone deserves equal access to health care, and I believe OpenMRS can make this possible, through collaborative work. Regarding Google Code-in, I appreciate the opportunity to work on an open-source project under the guidance of mentors from these participating organizations. I’m glad anyone can participate as long as they have the passion, no matter how much prior programming knowledge they may have.
  2. No, unfortunately, I have not participated in Google Code-in during previous years. This is my first year!
  3. I expect to further my coding knowledge and create new bonds with my fellow peers/mentors! I’m excited to see how my work can impact the lives of others!

Looking forward to a great experience, Caden

Sorry @cxdxn, I did not mean to comment on your post, I accidentally replied to your post instead of the whole meet and greet. I hope you don’t mind, :upside_down_face:

Hey! I’m Aless and I and very happy that I have participated in GCI and OpenMRS

  1. I have found out that GCI provides opportunities for people like me to get to know code a little more and challenge myself further for me to grow. Through GCI, I have discovered OpenMRS and the good it brings to the community.
  2. This is my first year participating in GCI. I am not an expert in code, but I am excited to learn more for years to come.
  3. Since I just became aware of OpenMRS, I expect for me to come familiar with it and meet people that can help me learn new things!

@aless, @cxdxn, @raydex, @longa9tdn and @ghostviper122 we are glad to have you in this community and we wish you good luck in your GCI season!
