As a medical clinician, I have gained experience working in Ugandan health centers through internship and volunteering at different healthcare levels. These experiences have shown me the importance of strong health systems, and I strongly believe technology can help improve healthcare, especially in resource-limited settings.

My name is Jhairt Vega, and I’m from Peru. I’m in my final year of studying Informatics Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). Recently, I joined a major project to implement OpenMRS in a hospital in my country.
I have experience with Java (Spring Boot), React, and JavaScript, and I have a strong interest in algorithms. I regularly participate in IEEEXtreme every year.
This month, I started learning about OpenMRS, its architecture, and how it is built. I’m very interested in contributing to the project, both in backend and frontend development. I’m excited to start collaborating with the community!

I specialize in web development, API development, integrations, and database management since 2016, and I’m passionate about building scalable and efficient software solutions. I am eager to improve my enterprise software development skills and dive into healthcare systems. OpenMRS provides a great opportunity to apply my experience while learning from the open-source community.
