Welcome! Please introduce yourself

Hi there,

I am Michael Penhallegon, a Junior at Evergreen State College prusuing a field of study of computer science (We don’t have majors here)… I was intereted intially in this class because I am was asked to evaluate java code for a program (class) I am taking here. Informatics has been my interest overall, looking to connect my love of technology with the social justice work I currently do.

i am interested to expand my investiment into openmrs and have started to stetup a development environment etc. I hope to get through building a basic module. My dream at this point would be to develop a case management module to use in social work setting since, though intergrative to the focus of a EMR is largely ignored by most systems.

I already have a decent amount of java code and development experience and hope to get more involved.

Hello to all!

I am Thomas Chapman. I’ve been developing software for 20 years. Experience in a wide range of things. Although I am still working commercially, I am looking to get involved with something where I can contribute to something that helps people instead of just helping companies make money.

I have a wonderful wife and three awesome, young children that keep me on the go all the time. I hope to be able to participate in OpenMRS in what little spare time I have. I am very much looking forward to getting started!

Hi all, My name is Ria Bhaduri. I am currently pursuing Master in Health Informatics from IU School of Informatics and Computing, Indianapolis and I have done my Bachelor in Pharmacy from India. I have work experience in text analytics where I was responsible for analyzing patient/physician responses. Currently, I am working as a Graduate Assistant on a radiology project. As a part of my coursework, recently I have been visiting openMRS. I am still in the process of exploring openMRS. Though I am naïve to the programming world, I believe I can do it. Last semester, I got acquainted with MySQL and Python. Also, I believe self-learning is the best learning and have been learning html, Javascript, Java so that I can contribute to openMRS and in a way contribute towards the betterment of society. I am looking forward to learning as well as contributing to openMRS. Thanks Ria

Hallo, my name is Mehari. I have joined OpenMRS community from Japan where I am studying for MSc in Information Systems. I am Ethiopian by nationality. I have clear image of the need to improve the health services in my country and other developing countries alike. Hence, I have chosen to take e-health vis-a-vis EMR (MRS) as my focus area for my academic project. Fortunately, this will give me good opportunity to learn more on software development in collaboration and also contribute towards a global solution to provide a dependable software for medical record. I will hope to participate a lot in coding and practice few testing activities.

I have the pleasure of introducing a colleague to the OpenMRS community.

@meadj01 is a US-based clinician, who is interested in adapting OpenMRS for safety net providers in New York State and across the US, who have been left out of the Meaningful Use push for EHR adoption.

John-Paul writes:

“I am looking to make versions of OpenMRS for nursing homes, homeless shelters, mental health counseling services, family planning agencies. We would be looking to add functionality to allow communication with RHIOs, such as Direct email and CCD building. We are not interested in making OpenMRS fit the US national standard for the EHR certification, and we are not interested in making OpenMRS support billing or other overly complex parts of the US healthcare system.”

  • Clinical Instructor in Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College
  • Clinical Instructor in Healthcare Policy and Research, Weill Cornell Medical College
  • Chair of Performance Improvement, Cayuga Medical Center
  • Medical Director of Internal Medicine, Cayuga Medical Associates
  • EHR Director, Cayuga Medical Associates
  • Member, Policy Committee, New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC)

John-Paul joined Partners In Health’s Ebola Response team in Sierra Leone and Liberia. His Health Information System (HIS) assessment contained invaluable information for a successful implementation at Pleebo Health Center in Liberia. He provided “boots on the ground” for our Medical informatics team.

Welcome!
