Welcome! Please introduce yourself

Hello OpenMRS Community,

My name is Vishal Moorthy. I am currently working on probation as an Android Developer in “Davlin Software Services” and also doing correspondence in Computer Science and Engineering from “The Institution of Engineers(India)”. My interests are coding, algorithms, anime, movies, reading books, contributing to open source softwares, etc.

This is my first Open Source Software I am trying to contribute. I came to know about OpenMRS from GSOC which I was willing to participate but was not having enough time to focus on getting in it officially. I always wanted to contribute to OSS. I want to learn more and get better than what I currently am and most importantly contribute to the community as much as possible with coding and ideas.

Too excited to be part of OpenMRS

Hi, I’m Yulia, and I very excised to contribute OpenMRS as a software testing engineer. I’m just a beginner with some theoretical knowledge so fill free to guide me across the project. As for me I’d like to deep into automated testing, but it’s OK to start with plain old manual testing.

Hi @yulia! Welcome to our community; we’re glad you’re here! For more information about how to get involved with QA, see the team’s wiki page at QA Testing Manual - Documentation - OpenMRS Wiki and discussion here on OpenMRS Talk: Quality Assurance - OpenMRS Talk

Greetings,

My name is Mikko and I’m a software designer from Tampere, Finland. At my day job I work with commercial web sites based on Java and the usual associated technologies. I got my MsC at 2009. After work I go out in the woods or try to hone my skills as an almost adequate rock drummer. In addition to myself, my family includes one human and one dog.

I’m actually only just getting started with OpenMRS. Basically my goal is to put my skills to work and do something useful for my fellow humans. Luckily I got a change to take a bit longer summer holiday than usually and I am using some of the extra time to get up to speed with OpenMRS development. Also, I got the opportunity to live in Berlin, Germany for the summer and have found it an inspiring environment for working on OS.

Terveisin, best regards, herzliche Grüsse!

Mikko

Hello, world! I’m Rafael Silvany, amateur surfer, boat-less yachting sailor, street runner and a very poor drummer.

In contrast with most here, I have no IT background. I was a Senior Consultant at Ernst & Young in the Performance Improvement area. My experience is pretty broad in business, having worked in 3 continents and 22 companies, so I know a little of everything, but not much of anything - except about Strategy. I left EY to search my dream of working with something that directly affects people’s lives. Unconditional lover of technology, I’m shifting my career to development of technology products, that is Product Management. Right now, I’m CEO of a small private hospital in the northeast Brazil and very driven to learn more about development. I’m hoping to get involved with the QA team.

Nevertheless, I can convey data about the processes and challenges of a typical health care provider, thus feel free to reach me out if you have any questions.

Vamos que vamos!

Hi everyone,

I am Ali from the middle east, I have good IT background; IT is the main area of my work. I enjoy programming and keeping up with technology a lot.

Few months ago, I started a new job at healthcare sector. I was so disappointed about the technology used for the information system. I then started to learn more about the healthcare system until I came cross OpenMRS.

After spending enough time searching and comparing among available solutions, OpenMRS seems a very strong and promising platform. It has been few weeks for me exploring the system already. Everyday I learn something new about the system, however, there still few things I don’t fully understand yet. Hopefully, overtime or with this lovely community’s help I will overcome these issues.

I am looking forward to getting involved in providing something useful to the humanity <3

Hi everyone!

My name is Nick, and I am currently a student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. I have been interested in finding open-source projects to contribute to and OpenMRS impressed me with such a vibrant and welcoming community. I love the mission statement of OpenMRS and I’m looking forward to finding ways to contribute! There’s a lot of information (it’s a bit overwhelming!) but hopefully I can get setup and comfortable rather quickly.

Looking forward to working with you all!

Hi,

I’m Jack, CompSci student on University College London in the UK. I’m on the internship this summer, trying to establish a platform for keeping both medical and non-medical records from different sources. After a month of researching different platforms OpenMRS seems to be the best choice - the modular architecture is exactly what I need for my project.

Generally speaking, I’m interested in creating a few interfaces to feed the system with external-sources data, visualisation tools and data analytics. For now the idea is to create R package to connect to R analytics scripts to OpenMRS API. If something like that already exists - I would be very grateful for informing me

Hi I’m Bob.

I am more involved with the Dhis2 community than openmrs, but I’ve been a subscriber to the old mailing lists for some years. Now I just recovered my old openMRS ID password and figured out how to join openmrs Talk. A bit slow I know, but better late than never …

I’m not that fond of diet coke.
