I’m Naman Jain, a third-year Computer Science student from Bhilai Institute of Technology, Durg (India). I’m exploring GSoC 2026 with OpenMRS and the project that immediately stood out to me was the Native O3 Frontend for the Audit Trail.
A bit of context on why this one clicked — I’m currently building a Laboratory Information System as a personal project, and it has a full audit trail built into it. Every state change on a patient order or result is logged with timestamps, user IDs, and before/after values, surfaced in a filterable history view for the admin. So this is not something I’m approaching cold — I’ve built exactly this kind of UI in a healthcare context and I understand why it matters clinically.
I’m familiar with the O3 microfrontend architecture — single-spa, Webpack Module Federation, ESM module registration — and I work with React and TypeScript regularly. I’ve also reviewed Wikum’s existing Audit Log Web Module and the available REST endpoints, which makes it clear to me that the backend foundation is solid and the real opportunity is bringing this into O3 where admins and clinicians actually live now.
I haven’t set up the O3 dev environment yet but that’s my next step this week. Happy to receive any guidance from the community or mentors on where to start or what would be most useful to explore before writing the full proposal.
