@dkayiwa Even I think it’s high time for it now … Been together for 11 years now … How and when should I propose her ?? Probably over a cup of code ??
hey everyone

Hello, my name is Drew Isaacson from the US. I am currently a sophomore in high school, enrolled in a computer science program. Open-source development has always been an interest of mine, but I never really found the drive or time to apply myself to such a project. With GCI and OpenMRS, I will finally be able to gain experience in open-source programming which I will hopefully carry on into my future. Also, OpenMRS is a great cause for coding! Though this is my first year of GCI, I anticipate that I may contribute something to the project and learn a lot while doing it. I aim to expand my studies in the field of software development or machine learning; playing video games has always been a hobby of mine. Otherwise, I enjoy basketball and am in the boy scouts. Thanks for the amazing opportunity!
Hello everyone,
I’m Georgiana, I’m a high school senior in the USA but I am originally from Jamaica. This is my first year in GCI! One of the many things I found interesting about OpenMRS is its distinctive mission. Many of my family members in Jamaica struggle to find efficient healthcare that isn’t unpredictable or high-priced which constantly worries the rest of my family who lives abroad, so being apart of a solution that tackles this problem is an amazing experience!
I love bullet journaling, photography, and coffee! I usually spend my spare time leading my robotics and cybersecurity teams or annoying my brothers! I am looking forward to helping write code that will save lives!
Sincerely,
“flashlightgirl” AKA Georgiana Wright
Hi!
My name is Jake Du, and I’m a freshmen from Memphis, TN. I am interested in some of OpenMRS’s aspects, and want to learn more about Open Source. In addition, I wanted to communicate with some of the Mentors to potentially walk away with some knowledge. Looking forward to a good Google Code-In! Jake Du
I am a senior at a high school in Eastern China. Last year, I stumbled upon GCI on Google’s education homepage. It was a wonderful chance for me to start with open source software development, so I jumped right in and participated in 2016.
This year, I found OpenMRS directly on the GCI website, and I was instantly hooked to its mission of helping people around the world gain access to a free, open source medical record system. Coincidentally, I had some previous experience with Java and web technologies, so OpenMRS is like a perfect fit for me! Programming aside, I am interested in philosophy and cognitive science. I also like listening to post-rock, a lot
I am from Palo Alto, California.
The thing I found most interesting about Google Code-in is the variety of different tasks which illuminates the different ways coding can come into play in the business world.
I have not participated in Google Code-in but I am excited to do it this year.
I am interested in music, specifically Ukulele, Guitar, and Bass and also love coding.
@imaculgy I’m in the boy scouts too!
Hi!
I am John Chen, currently a freshman in high school. This is the first time I am participating in GCI and I look forward to working with OpenMRS in the next couple of weeks and in the years to come. While I was learning about the Google Code In mentor organizations, I came across OpenMRS and was inspired by its mission of providing accessible health care software in resource-constrained environments. By getting involved in the OpenMRS community, I hope to contribute to the improvement of healthcare in developing countries and communities around the world.
I am a cellist, coder, redditor, gamer and golfer who is also interested in history, politics and literature. While I have a strong interest in the social sciences, my key interest is in computer science, with a focus on areas such as programming and data science/analysis. I have an intermediate proficiency in Java and Python, and a basic understanding of Javascript, git and bash. Currently, I am participating in the programming club and competitive robotics team at my school.
Hey @johncgci1871, I’m a cellist too. How long have you been playing for?
Why hello there!
My name’s Michael MacLeod. I’m a high school senior in California. who really loves computer science. This will be my first time participating in Google Code-in.
When I wake up I think about computer science. I eat computer science for breakfast. At school I can’t focus on my classes because I’m too excited about what I’ll be coding when I get home.
Silliness aside, I’ve taken a computer science class in Java. More recently I’ve been learning some other languages like Rust and Javascript. I’m especially interested in functional programming (Haskell, Lisp, etc). A bunch of the projects I’ve made are hosted on my github.
I’m really excited to start working on OpenMRS. It’s really cool to think that what I contribute can potentially help people across the world.
That’s about it I guess; hope to see 'yall around!
