What’s the difference between person and patient in OpenMRS?

Hi,

I would like to ask some very basic question. What it is the difference between a Person and a Patient in the OpenMRS in a broader meaning.

Person has demographics (names, birthdate, address, etc.).

Patient is a person being treated within the medical system. They can have a medical record number and be the subject for clinical encounters, treatments, etc.

Users are users of the system (i.e., authenticate & use the web app) and have an associated person record as well.

Patient relatives, caretakers, providers, etc. can be recorded as other persons related to the patient.

You can peruse the data model at https://om.rs/dm or learn more about the model at https://om.rs/devmanual
