Using Snomed CT in OpenMRS

Hello all

I am an openMRS implementer at a clinical facility in Kenya. I wished to know if there is a way to use Snomed CT concepts as concepts within openMRS. If so, what would be the best implementation pathway? I would wish to use the same without having to import the snomed concepts into the openMRS concept dictionary. To this far, I have managed load all the snomed CT concepts to a MYSQL database on the same database instance that openMRS runs on. Any assistance will be highly appreciated.

Use the CIEL dictionary

We do not recommend using SNOMED (a reference terminology) as actual concepts in OpenMRS. You should use concepts which are clinically-relevant and have maps to SNOMED. Which is what CIEL does.
