Unable to sign-in github

Kind help please! I am able to login to github using my username and password successfully but verifying my github account using Two-factor authentication is giving me hard time. I when I enter the code from my two-factor authentication app I get this error Two-factor authentication failed. Even when the code is right. I have tried googling around and trying every proposed option but all in vain . Kindly how can I go about it?

cc @dkayiwa

I have tried recovering my account or unlinking my email address(es) by following these steps On the Two-factor authentication,

  • I clicked on more options

  • selected 2FA recovery code

  • selected Begin account or email recovery

  • Entered the provided code and was directed back to github. I have tried again failed only to get this message from github

`You have completed the request to disable two-factor authentication for the account @jwnasambu.

GitHub Support will review this request within approximately 1-3 business days.

Additional requests submitted during this time will not be reviewed by GitHub Support.

If you find the recovery codes for your account during this time you can sign in to GitHub immediately and update your two-factor authentication settings.

If you wish to abort the review, click this link: Cancel Two-factor lockout recovery`

Kindly is there something I can do other than waiting for the 3days to elapse?

Hello @jwnasambu

My recommendation is you check your phone date/time and confirm that it is right, if possible enable “Automatic date & time” and “Automatic timezone” in the settings then restart the authenticator app and logging in again. Usually the codes are created based on the date/time.

Thanks so much for the input. I tried that process but still didn’t work. I am patiently waiting for the recovery process done by github. Once again thanks
