"Unable to compile class for JSP" error when viewing admin tab

I have just set up OpenMRS (not the standalone version) and used the advanced setup method. I am getting an error when trying to access the administration tab- it says

org.apache.jasper.JasperExecution: Unable to compile class for JSP: ....

and then details where these errors occured

Any advice for getting past this error?

What are the rest of the details of the error? I’m not familiar with that one. If you restart Tomcat, do you still get that error?

Have you tweaked the Tomcat memory settings? Have you set it to use at-least 512MB or 1GB? https://wiki.openmrs.org/display/docs/Troubleshooting+Memory+Errors

The full error is too long to send but this is the stacktrace. I will try changing memory settings

That doesn’t look like a typical memory error.

Can you confirm you are running Java 6 or Java 7. I think OpenMRS may still have some problems with Java 8.

And the same thing with Tomcat. Are you running Tomcat 6 or 7? I recommend Tomcat 7. I think OpenMRS may still have some problems with Tomcat 8.

We were using Java 7, I still do not know what the issue was but we have reverted to using the standalone version since this is a small implementation. Thanks for the help!
