@burke can you make this the banner on OpenMRS Talk for now?

For example/reference, I’m imagining something similar to this other global goods’ one.

I was going to use this Discourse plugin but realized I’m not cozy enough with CSS to be trusted :stuck_out_tongue:

I added the banner to Talk. It’s linked to om.rs/24, which – for the moment – just redirects to this thread. I’m assuming we will soon have an official home page for the conference. Up through OMRS20, these were always wiki pages under this wiki page. Somewhere over the last few years, it’s been less predictable (e.g., om.rs/16 and om.rs/19 still work, but om.rs/21 and om.rs/22 go to a registration page and a broken page outside of the wiki).

The nice thing about using a wiki page as a home page for the conference is that it can evolve over time from announcement, to registration, to schedule, to permanent documentation of the event. It can, of course, always send people elsewhere for registration, sched.com or other live conference scheduling, etc.

Very good points Burke. I’ve kicked off a new wiki page for ORMS24 here:

FYI @christine @erica and anyone else involved in conference organizing: You’re more than welcome to change this wiki page, I just copied a template from the last conference in Kenya and added the info from this one :slight_smile:

FYI @burke seems like the banner image became broken since we updated it on Friday.

Apologies if this has already been asked, but I just wanted to confirm that the hack-a-thon will start on Monday, Sept 9th (and not the weekend before)?

@christine @grace @burke

Take care, Mark

@burke, can we update the talk banner to this?

@beryl Could we get a version of that better suited to be a site banner? If we add that as-is Talk looks like this:

And if I down-size it to the height of the current banner it looks like this:

It’s a great image for something like the Wiki page or an announcement on the blog, but not as a header. Ideally we’d want an image somewhere between the current banner’s 20:3 aspect ratio and 3:1. (The current proposed image is 2:1).

3:1 is something like:

cropped image

@ibacher let me work on that.

@ibacherIs this better?
