OpenMRS, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization established to support our growing OpenMRS community. It is legally governed by a revolving five member Board of Directors. That Board is currently seeking additional nominations from the entire OpenMRS community for upcoming vacancies to that group.

If you might be wondering about what would make a good Board member, the board has provided a list of skillsets and attributes that it will prioritize in the selection process:
Skillsets sought (ideally, a nomination would have particular skills in one or more of the following):
- Organizational Leadership
- Strategic thinking
- Fundraising experience
- Organizational administrative experience
- Willingness to represent/advocate for OpenMRS publicly
Expertise that’s needed on the board in aggregate (these are not requirements of every Board Member, but do need to be represented collectively):
- Health IT strategy and experience
- Open source understanding/experience
- Lives within or has substantive direct experiences working with underserved/under-resourced populations
- Direct OpenMRS implementation experience
- Willingness to directly engage with the community
Qualities that are sought from every Board Member:
- Strong alignment with OpenMRS MVV and community culture
- Commitment to good organizational governance
- Time to commit to support the organization’s staff (2-4 hours per month)
- Supportive, but willing to express own opinions
