Read-only test/panel catalog export — is anyone working on OGC-70 / Custom Data Export yet?

Hi all,

I’m deploying OpenELIS Global 2 for several independent laboratories in Argentina, each paired with its own OpenEMR instance, connected via the FHIR REST API (ServiceRequest/Patient) rather than HL7. As the person doing the deployments, I don’t have hands-on access to every lab’s day-to-day operations, and the labs themselves don’t have technical/IT staff — so keeping my OpenEMR-side code-mapping table in sync with each site’s live test catalog is proving difficult without a way to export the current test/panel catalog.

I found the design doc for Custom Data Export (openelis-work/designs/reports/custom-data-export.md, under epic OGC-70 — Catalyst LLM-Powered Lab Data Assistant), which looks like it would solve this eventually, but as far as I can tell it hasn’t been implemented in develop yet.

A few questions before I consider contributing:

Is anyone actively working on OGC-70 / the Custom Data Export feature right now? I don’t want to duplicate effort. Is there a much smaller scope that would already help external integrators — for example, a simple read-only endpoint or admin page that lists active tests (name, id, LOINC, section, sample type) and panels (with their component tests) as CSV, without the full wizard/queue/saved-configs functionality described in the design doc?

My use case is specifically integrators/implementers who need programmatic or semi-programmatic access to “what tests and panels exist right now” for building external interfaces (OpenEMR, OpenMRS, etc.) — not full reporting/data-export for lab staff, which I understand is the bulk of the OGC-70 scope.

Happy to share more details about my deployment setup if useful. Thanks!

Hi @luis.uriarte!

I assume you meant to post this on OpenELIS Global’s Discourse (also called Talk): https://talk.openelis-global.org/? Catalyst is being actively worked on (you can follow the progress here), but is in early-stage evaluation and is not likely to wind up in the develop branch of OE in the immediate future since we’re still evaluating the baseline capabilities. I know there’s been some work in OE on the test catalog itself—I don’t think as a CSV, but as a REST endpoint—that could probably be used for your purposes.

Hi Ian,

Thank you very much for your reply and for pointing me in the right direction.

My apologies for posting the question in the wrong forum. I’ll post it on the OpenELIS Global Talk forum instead.

Thank you again for your help!
