PoC: Encounter History - Reviewing Encounter Changes in the Patient Chart

Hi everyone :waving_hand:

We’ve been thinking about introducing an Encounter History feature in the Patient Chart – something that could be really useful for clinical traceability within encounters. The goal is to make it easier to understand what has changed in an encounter over time – for example, when observations are added, updated, or removed.

To explore this idea, I’ve prepared a Proof of Concept for an Encounter History workspace.

This PoC includes:

  • A new “Encounter History” workspace accessible from the Encounter Table (“Show encounter history”);
  • A Data Table listing observation details – questions, answer, actions, user and timestamp;
  • It’s mocked for PoC purposes, but we believe Observation data provides a solid basis to build this kind of history — we would be grateful for any feedback, thoughts, or confirmations on this.

We’d love to hear your opinions on the concept, design and overall direction. Would this help improve traceability and context around encounters in the Patient Chart?

FWIW, we already have some designs for an enhanced system for viewing encounter and visit history, e.g., this link with a corresponding table and summary card. However, we’ve been lacking time to actually implement them (or the subset of them that make sense). We’ve had some implementations that are interested in that type of view, and I think it may be better for users than a data-heavy view of encounters (the “All Encounters” tab was really there for O3 developers to see that stuff was happening and we intended to have a nicer user-facing view for a while).
