Outpatient Module with Graphical Reports

Hi Grace,

We are currently developing an advanced Outpatient module designed to streamline the generation of outpatient service reports. This module offers detailed insights through departmental reports, enabling efficient analysis and performance tracking across various departments. The module provides graphical representations of data, enhancing the visualization of key metrics and trends for each department to support data-driven decision-making. The module can also filter the reports by diagnosis, especially for the Consultation department.

We are actively working on adding more features, such as configurable charts that allow users to customize visualizations to their specific needs. Furthermore, we are incorporating roles and privileges to ensure data security and confidentiality, allowing only authorized personnel to access reports relevant to their department—for example, restricting Dental staff from viewing reports from Ultrasound.

Benefits:

  • Improved Operational Efficiency: Streamlines the reporting process, saving time for staff and enabling a more proactive approach to managing outpatient services.
  • Informed Strategic Planning: Detailed insights support strategic planning and help identify opportunities for growth and enhancement in patient care delivery.
  • Customizable Reporting: Tailor reports to meet specific needs, providing a flexible tool that adapts to the unique requirements of different departments.

Support Needed: We aim to make the module configurable to cater to diverse reporting requirements across different departments.

As an EMR user I think graphs of lab results, medication use, vital signs, measures like ejection fractions are a great idea. Sadly many physicians say they don’t look at graphs. Having seen what graphs look like in some EMRs it is clear that the displays are very bad and useless. It is the poor implementation that is the problem and not the usefulness of a well designed graph. I have examples of screenshots but I don’t know how to upload the images.

Some important features are to allow the user to select one or more parameters to include in the graph. Lab results along with medications is very useful. Adding the occurrence of problems would also be nice.

More sophisticated features like parallel coordinates and normalization of lab results can also be very informative.
