It’s frustrating to me that this is a documented step of the release process, it was discussed in February, again in March (and I think I remember discussing it more recently also) but it still wasn’t taken care of.

Sorry but FYI @darius I requested @cintiadr for JIRA admin previleges so that i may close off the Pending tickets which were blocking Refapp 2.7 Release at JIRA , but i never got the privileges to close the Blocking tickets.It should have been done by now. I could not finish off that until all tickets closed.
