OpenMRS Leadership Call 2017-08-31

Dear Community,

The weekly leadership meetings are attended by members in the OpenMRS community that serve in a leadership capacity and dedicate a significant amount of time in service of other members in the OpenMRS community. For a long time these meetings have occurred on a weekly basis and, for the most part, its the same people attending each week. Sometimes it feels like we’re talking to ourselves and we really wish community leaders would join these weekly calls to present and discuss ideas and “step up to the plate” to lead a new project. I see so many leaders in this community doing amazing work, working incredibly hard, and making sure that things are done well.

Please join this call! At the 2016 Implementers’ Conference we spoke face-to-face and many of you expressed ideas and passion for new projects and solutions… this is your time to present and discuss those ideas in a forum that can lead to acquiring funding to make your dream a reality.

We have a leadership call scheduled for this Thursday, 31 August @ 4pm UTC (12pm ET). If you are a community leader, you are encouraged to attend and share in the discussion! If you normally attend but are unable to this week please let me know. Also if there are any additional topics or updates you would like to see on this agenda or a future agenda please let me know!

I think it’s worth calling out two things about the leadership call:

  • People should join the call either to help coordinate efforts they are already leading for the community or to take on leading an effort or task for the community.

  • The timing of the call may be tough for many time zones (dinner time in GMT, evening in Africa, midnight in Asia, 2am in Sydney). This may or may not be a factor in some people not joining calls. If so, it would be nice to know.

I want to echo Burkes comments. If there is a ‘better time or a better way’ for these calls, please let us know so that we can discuss options. You can also always post to the call notice in Talk, as we review that prior to the call to see if there are comments.

@r0bby,i just linked what went to the Board about infrastructure into the notes ( it is a document).

and, as a reminder, the agenda and notes are living documents, and they tend to be alive until after the meeting–so things are getting added on an ad hoc basis up to and during the call. Sorry if that creates confusion!
