I am trying to install OpenMRS on Centos 7 but I keep getting this error "

???Error executing sql: create database if not exists ? default character set utf8 - Could not create connection to database server. Attempted reconnect 3 times. Giving up.???

My configuration details OS Centos 7

JAVA openjdk version β€œ1.8.0_201” OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_201-b09) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.201-b09, mixed mode)

MySQL

mysql Ver 8.0.15 for Linux on x86_64

Tomcat

apache-tomcat-7.0.93

I am trying to setup OpenMRS for a university clinic

@dkayiwa what could be the problem?

That version of MySQL is not yet supported. Use MySQL version 5.7

Thanks, I will install ver5.7 and see if it works.

Hi @dkayiwa, will OpenMRS 2.1.4 work with MariaDB? If yes, which version?

Can you try it out and share the outcome?

@dkayiwa managed to work with MariaDB, however there’s and error that I get when trying to complete the installation process

copy the error logs on paste bin and drop them here

I changed the installation directory, extracted the files and ran the setup again, now everything is fine
