I am a computer science student at Queen’s University in Canada. I saw this project listed as a 2015 GSOC project that apparently wasn’t picked up by a student. If one of you, or anyone else reading this post, would be willing to mentor me on this project, I would love to take it on.
As for a timeline, the existing proposal in the wiki entry seems like a reasonable starting point, but could be improved with more specific goals as I research the specifics of the project.
Thank you so much! I’m working on fixing a couple of bugs to familiarize myself with OpenMRS right now. I will be in touch soon with some questions, and eventually a formal proposal.
i am a student at Kisumu Polytechnic in kenya I would love work on this project as part of GSOC 2016 and the wiki has all the info needed to work my proposal the timelines are also considerate and am looking forward to working with everyone here thank you
In the interest of keeping communication public, I’m posting a question here that I asked Samuel and Simon in private message.
Hey Samuel and Simon,
A couple questions about the project:
In the outline it says “Collect and submit data from the form.” Where exactly is the data being submitted to, if this is meant to function offline. Is it being submitted to a Muzima module of some sort?
Also, is this viewer meant to interface with a Muzima module or mobile application in any way? Or is it strictly taking the artifact generated by the HTML form entry module, validating the information in it, then displaying it as it would be displayed on OpenMRS?
I’m hoping to get an answer on these questions before I submit my proposal tomorrow. If you could take a minute to get to those sometime today it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes: The generated payload will be processed by Muzima Processor Module.

The viewer is supposed to:1. Interface with OpenMRS HTML form entry module to download the artifact2. Display the HTML artifact (the same way OpenMRS does), and allow offline data collection on the viewer (disconnected from OpenMRS) with validation.3. Generate a json payload that will be consumed by Muzima Processor4. Convert the HTML artifact to be muzima mobile compatible (including validations) and avail the HTML form to Muzima Mobile through Muzima Forms Module.5. “Extra Credit”: Create a Muzima HTML Form designer
Unfortunately I’ve had to withdraw from the GSOC program this summer. I got offered another summer job that I couldn’t refuse, and as such won’t be able to put in the proper amount of hours required for the project. However, I will continue contributing to OpenMRS, and may reapply for a GSOC spot in the future.
I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Thanks Rob for letting us know, and congratulations on the job offer! Please stick around if you are able; we would love to find ways for you to stay involved in your free time.
