I want to discuss about improving the Related person field in the Relationship section of the O3 patient registration. The idea is to include whether the patient is local — meaning they belong to the current location.
This helps distinguish between patients, especially in the ICRC, where we manage multiple locations and may encounter people with the same name.
Hi @luis.oliveira. I agree with this idea, and given your particular mention of ICRC, it makes perfect sense to make that distinction. How do you propose moving forward with this idea? I would like to support in whichever small capacity I can.
Bringing this back up - this is a very interesting use case, and a very important feature for orgs like ICRC with centralized data and many similar patient names across many locations.
@ibacher do you want to have a short design call to talk through this? Or we could make talking through this a mini-event within next week’s O3 Squad call.
Ian’s quick inclination is: “My inclination is to think that we need a way of making the relationship widget swappable with a custom one. The reason for that is that the idea of “patient location” is unideal outside of the ICRC distribution, so we want to avoid any solution that fixes that is ICRC-specific. And, Patients, in OpenMRS, have a location within the scope of a visit or encounter, but not as a general “fact” about who they are.”
