It looks like JIRA now requires an extra step for newbies. This involves clicking the user name icon on the top right hand corner and then click Log in from the drop down menu.

Yeah… Atlassian Cloud’s login system is… not great. When you login, it has a tendency to log you into to the Atlassian Home app (home.atlassian.com) which may or may not log you into Jira, which is confusing. I think you normally also need to click one of the buttons on the cookie banner shown too.
