And as I have previously discussed in many topics in this forum, my company is looking forward to develop features with Bahmni and use it for internal software product purpose.
Although, I need clarification regarding the licensing part. I went through the licensing and only understood it to some extent.
I would like to know about how the licensing actually works, so that I can give proper credits to the original authors and abide by its terms and conditions.
It would be nice if someone clarifies the Licensing part to me.
I want to follow the licensing part and develop Bahmni features as well. If I understand the licensing well, I will abide by it and proceed further. So anyone?
Does the license state that the codebase has to be open-sourced?
Is there any commercial licensing that Bahmni Coalition offers? If yes, then feel free to discuss it with me, thanks!
Should I purchase the licensing or how does it work usually?
I literally have no idea how this works, so it would be better if someone enlightens me, thanks!
These should answer most of your questions. Assuming you’ve gone through the above links and still have questions, to vastly simplify (disclaimer: this is not legal advice, so please consult a lawyer)
If you’re making changes to parts of Bahmni and don’t plan to distribute it (i.e. you will only be using it internally within your organization), you don’t need to contribute it back.
If you’re making changes and plan to distribute it (either offering as a hosted service to customers or packaging and selling as a licensed product), then you would need to contribute it back. If you would like to keep it proprietary, please contact us using the form here: Contact Us — Bahmni™ and we can have a discussion.
