More teams are seemingly preferring MySQL UUID generation rather than in java. its improving and could save us 16 bits per UUID and it makes sense for a bigger project like @openmrs although it probably ships with huge implications, here are some references.
This would make sense with the assumption that everybody runs MySQL but unfortunately it isn’t.
