Hi everyone,
I’m thrilled to have been selected as an OpenMRS Community Management Fellow for 2025! For those who don’t know me, I joined the OpenMRS community back in 2021 and have been actively contributing for the past two years.
My journey with OpenMRS has been incredibly rewarding, with contributions spanning various areas. I’ve had the opportunity to contribute code, help organize our community showcases, and play a key role in the planning and organization of community events. One of the highlights for me was setting up the first OpenMRS Academy.
I’ve also been deeply involved in community engagement, offering support to the events team, creating graphics and visuals for our community showcases, and contributing to the visual identity of OMRS24.
Now, as a Community Management Fellow, I’m excited to dedicate the next few months to further strengthening our community under the invaluable mentorship of @beryl and in partnership with communty management fellow @wodpachua. Here’s a glimpse into my focus areas for the next few months of the fellowship:
-
I’ll be working on adding content to the new OpenMRS website. This will be an ongoing effort throughout the fellowship.
-
OMRS25 Conference Graphics and Planning: I’ll be supporting the design of graphics for the OMRS25 conference and assisting with the overall planning of this event.
-
Docuthon Planning: I’ll be collaborating with @beryl and @grace to plan the upcoming Docuthon.
-
Community Engagement: This will be an ongoing focus, including:
- Updating community-related onboarding documentations.
- Regularly posting and sharing updates about upcoming events and valuable resources.
- Helping to run our community catch-up calls.
- Assisting with the coordination of GSoC calls.
- Fostering community engagement.
- Exploring ways to improve our social media presence.
- Together with @wodpachua, I’ll be identifying and updating community-related documentation that needs attention.
- I’ll be supporting the dissemination and potentially the analysis of the implementation survey.
I’m incredibly grateful to OpenMRS for this opportunity to serve the community in this new capacity. Thanks to @beryl, @grace, and @erica for trusting that I can take up this role. I’m eager to collaborate with all of you and contribute to the continued growth and vibrancy of our amazing community. Please feel free to reach out with any ideas or suggestions as I embark on this fellowship!
