Looking for a good first issue to contribute

Hi everyone,

I’ve set up OpenMRS locally and gone through the installation successfully. I’d now like to start contributing. Could someone point me to a beginner-friendly issue (not already resolved) that I can work on as my first contribution?

Thanks a lot

You can find beginner-friendly tasks under the “good first issue” label on GitHub. That’s the best place to start contributing.

Hello! I’m Kundan, a pre-med/NEET student and Java developer with an interest in the medical industry. I would like to work on this problem as my first contribution because I have a solid understanding of OOP principles.

Would you kindly give it to me?

Hey! I was in the same position a few months ago.

The best place to start is the official OpenMRS issue filters:

I’m happy to help if you get stuck on anything, so feel free to reach out!

Hi everyone, I’m Vinay. I’m interested in contributing to OpenMRS and preparing for GSoC.

I have experience with Java, Spring, and Maven, and I’m comfortable working with REST APIs and backend development.

I’d love to start with a good first issue—preferably in backend modules like openmrs-core. Any guidance or issue suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks!
