Question:

Hi everyone,

I’m a GSoC 2026 aspirant and I’m currently getting started with contributing to OpenMRS.

I found a beginner issue that I’m interested in working on: [PASTE YOUR ISSUE LINK HERE]

However, I’m currently facing an issue logging into JIRA (issues.openmrs.org). After attempting to log in using my OpenMRS ID, I receive an authentication error, and I’m unable to access or interact with the issue tracker.

Because of this, I’m not sure how to properly claim or start working on the issue.

Could someone please guide me on:

  1. How to resolve this JIRA login issue, and

  2. Whether this issue is suitable for a first-time contributor, and how I should proceed?

I would really appreciate any guidance on getting started.

Did you follow the last step - Jira Service Management

Please confirm if you received the access mail ?

And If you recieved the mail then follow this steps -

  1. OpenMRS ID Account Management - logging to ur openmrs id
  2. then after loggin click directly on the (issues) , button is on top , don’t open in new tab.
  3. Then click on Log in with OpenMRS ID .
  4. Then click on Jira .

Follow and revert back

Do you have the acess of wiki and jira ?

Kindly fix your username please! you can’t use an email as a username.
