Hi everyone! ![]()
Recently, I worked on improving the end-to-end (E2E) docs in the Patient Management app. During review, it was pointed out that many other repos across the OpenMRS frontend ecosystem could benefit from the same improvement.
That sparked an idea:
Since Hacktoberfest is live
, why not turn this into a community contribution event that’s perfect for new contributors (or anyone interested) to get started with OpenMRS?
What’s the goal?
We’ll work together to:
- Use my PR as a reference example
#2000 in patient-management - Update & improve the E2E docs in different frontend repos across the OpenMRS organization
- Make our developer experience smoother and more welcoming for everyone
Who can join?
- New contributors: A great way to learn, start small, and make a visible impact!
- Seasoned contributors: Help guide others and ensure consistency across repos.
How to get started?
- Check out my reference PR: (docs) O3-5096: Update E2E test documentation in README by JayadityaGit · Pull Request #1478 · openmrs/openmrs-esm-core · GitHub
- Pick another repo in the OpenMRS org with E2E docs that need updating
- Submit your PR with improvements

- Post your PR link in this Talk thread so maintainers can easily review it and add the
hacktoberfest-acceptedlabel - Share your progress and ask questions right here in the thread
Let’s collaborate to level up our documentation together! This is a great entry point for new folks, and an easy but meaningful way to strengthen OpenMRS as a whole.
I just thought this would be a great initiative for new contributors.
Apologies to @jayasanka and @grace if I jumped ahead without checking in first — I really value your input and guidance on this.
If folks are excited, we can shape this into a fun Hacktoberfest × OpenMRS mini-event .
