I recently registered an HL7 OID 2.16.840.1.113883.3.7194 for OpenMRS. Have you registered an HL7 OID for CIEL? If not, would you be interested in getting one? We’re developing a CDA template for Case-Based Reporting and a CIEL OID would be very handy.
Mmm. I thought we had a one point, but I think that might have been a URI. Seems like we would need a different OID for each CIEL domain rather than just one. However, we can probable start with one. Especially as it costs $100 each. I will investigate further and let you know ASAP.
Cool. There are OIDs for LOINC, ICD10, etc. Even a single CIEL OID would help, so we could make CDA references like:
<code code="164093" codeSystem="2.16.840.1.113883.3.XXXX" displayName="Date of last patient visit" />
FYI – I just filled out the application, paid the $100, got a “coupon” via email the next day, and then used the coupon to register the OpenMRS OID. When the registration form is submitted, the OID is assigned and available immediately. I was assuming you might be an HL7 member and be able to get it for less than $100.
Also FYI, if you register an OID, then that automatically makes you the authority for the subtree (any child values). So, while you may want to eventually have registered OIDs for other aspects of CIEL within HL7’s registry, you could still use them beforehand. For example, let’s say CIEL was assigned OID 2.16.840.1.113883.3.XXXX. You could publish a list of CIEL-related OIDs on the OpenMRS wiki like:
