As a Laboratory technologist I would want to specify the sample type at the point of picking a lab request.

We don’t use modals to capture data from the user. Would it be acceptable to record the sample type at the point of recording the result? Remember what we have implemented is intended as a “light-weight” laboratory module and not a replacement for a full LIMS.
Thanks Ian for the response. There are some things that are considered basic within a lab such as indicating the type of sample that is being collected to fulfill the test. Can our light-weight accomodate this singular request?
Why this is important is because there are some tests where more than one sample type can be used to fulfill the request and at the moment our users aren’t able to indicate the sample used hence very difficult for anyone to refer back.
Yes. I was just pointing out that there’s currently no real data structure for the “pick lab request” thing you’re showing, so we don’t have a way of storing information at that point in the workflow. We can, however, record the sample type taken at the point the result is recorded, since that is actually backed by something.

Are you able to create a Jira ticket for this? I think this should be a fairly straight-forward task dev-wise. I think we just need a configuration item to set a concept-set that points to the valid sample types and then we’re probably just adding a drop-down to select.
