We are pleased to announce the launch of the OpenMRS Secure Coding Course, a free, self-paced course designed to help developers integrate security into their everyday development practices.
The course is primarily intended for OpenMRS core developers and is also recommended for developers working on country instances, distributions, modules, and other OpenMRS implementations.
Participants will learn about common security risks, secure development practices, authentication and authorization, secure API and file handling, vulnerability testing, and security considerations when contributing code to OpenMRS. The course takes approximately three hours to complete and includes a certificate of completion.
The course was developed as part of SAFE-OSE—Secure Applications For Open-source Ecosystems, a two-year project funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and implemented through a collaboration between OpenMRS and Indiana University.
