Introducing Christine Gichuki as the new OpenMRS global events manager

Hi everyone,

You may have noticed that over the past few weeks, i’ve been trying to cover for the role of global events manager. Well, happily, we’ve found someone who is far better geared towards this role, and has agreed to shoulder the responsibility.

Many of you may already know @christine, who is based in Kenya, and contributes to implementations there. She will be taking on some of these responsibilities, including planning for Uganda 2016. We’re happy to have her on board, and are confident that things will go very well!

FYI: I’m working on putting together a set of responsibilities for the role of global events manager. You are welcome to comment/contribute here : https://wiki.openmrs.org/display/RES/OpenMRS+Global+events+manager%3A+Responsibilities

Also, I wanted to take this time to give thanks to @surangak, who, as you all have probably noticed, has really gone above and beyond over these past few months. Thanks for helping to keep things going!

Take care, Mark

Now that I am (gradually) retiring from this role, I think I shall retreat to a corner, and become that grumpy person who goes “hmm… back in my day, we did it all so much better” Lol
