How to contribute as developer?

Hi I am new and I want to contribute as java dev however I don’t know where to start or whom to ask. Could someone tell me how to contribute and meet other developers?

For Java, i think you are looking in the backend direction, I think you should start from openmrs-core or openmrs-sdk… , go to the openmrs organisation on github and search for Java related projects…

Good luck !

  • You stumble upon the project Maybe you’re genuinely interested. Maybe you’re just curious. Either way, something about it draws you in.
  • You start exploring You run the project, click around, test features—and suddenly you spot something odd. A bug, a rough edge, or a feature that could be improved.
  • You feel the drive to solve it You either already know how to fix it, or you’re motivated enough to learn what’s needed and jump in.
  • You open a pull request Your fix or improvement goes up as a PR. It’s your way of saying, “I noticed this—and I’d like to help.”
  • The maintainers jump in They review your code, offer suggestions, and may request changes. It’s all part of the process.
  • Your PR gets merged :tada: If it looks good, it’s merged—and you’ve officially improved the project.
  • Or you revisit your work If changes are needed, no big deal. You refine your code, learn from the feedback, and resubmit. Then it’s back to step 5.

some good places to find issues is jira or your own OBSERVATION !
