How to apply for volunteer opportunities and begin contributing to projects as a UX Designer

Hi Everyone,

I would like to introduce myself first.

I am Pavanipriya Sajja, Senior UX designer at Super purposes. Also I am pursuing product management skills and leveling up my skills in the leadership platform. As a senior UX designer what are the responsibilities that I do in my everyday professional life : Collaborating with stakeholders and other cross functional teams to create product roadmap, mentoring other designers, Hiring designers for the team, Product planning to launch, Product Management + UX designer

I have been interested in the Health Tech platform since I came here. I did go through the Open MRS : Documentations about the project, Youtube videos, and the Joined Slack channel. But I did not understand how to apply as a volunteer and start contributing my skills at OpenMRS Community.

I have an interest in working on the Immunization & Vaccination Schedule app for O3 as well as Growth Chart app for O3.

I’m really grateful for your guidance on how I can apply and contribute as a UX Designer.

I appreciate that you want to contribute to the OpenMRS. You can start by creating an issue first for the enhancement in UI (or any other) that you want to propose, then you can start working on it after approval from project maintainers.

There’s no formal application process. We accept contributions from anyone. We have a page on our Wiki that describes how to get started as a designer.
