Hi OpenMRS Community,
My name is Kanishka Bhati, and I am a 2nd-year Computer Science student. I am writing to share my progress as I prepare for GSoC 2026. I have a deep interest in the intersection of technology and healthcare, which is why I’ve chosen to contribute to OpenMRS.
What I’ve Done So Far:

Documentation Contribution: I have submitted my first Pull Request to the
openmrs-book-developer-manualto improve the clarity and professional formatting of the contributor guidelines. -
Environment Setup: I have successfully set up my local development environment using the OpenMRS SDK and am currently exploring the O3 frontend architecture.

Introductory Issue: I have identified RA-1747 (INTERFACE - Remove or hide admit button) as my primary introductory task.
Current Status: I have submitted a request to the Help Desk for Contributor Permissions so that I can officially claim RA-1747 on JIRA and begin working on the fix. In the meantime, I am reviewing the codebase to ensure my proposed solution follows the community’s coding conventions.
I am very excited to contribute to a project that makes a tangible difference in global health. I would appreciate any feedback on my PR or advice from mentors regarding RA-1747.
