GSoC 2026 Applicant – Interested in Service Queues Project and Looking for Guidance

Hi everyone,

My name is Sophia, I am a software developer from Benin with a background in backend development, APIs, and data-driven systems.

I am interested in applying for Google Summer of Code 2026 with OpenMRS, specifically the “Service Queues” project.

I have worked on systems related to service flow, data collection, and operational monitoring, and I am particularly interested in improving tools that help manage queues and reduce waiting times in real-world environments.

I would like to get started contributing and better understand the current implementation of the Service Queues module in O3.

Could you please guide me on:

  • where to start in the codebase,
  • which issues would be good for a first contribution,
  • and any recommended resources to understand this module better?

Thank you for your time and support.

Hi, the codebase for the frontend module is in openmrs-esm-patient-management, and the backend is in openmrs-module-queue.

But you can also get most of the information on how to get started from here…
