Hi OpenMRS Community,
I hope this message finds you well! My name is Pranjal Agrawal, and I’m a B.Tech student at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. I’m excited to introduce myself and express my interest in contributing to the Service Queues project as part of Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2025.
About Me
I have hands-on experience in full-stack development, specializing in the MERN stack and RESTful APIs. Some highlights of my work include:
- Developing a secure video hosting backend using Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB, with JWT and Bcrypt authentication.
- Leading the development of a full-stack, responsive website for my university’s Literary Society using Next.js 14 and Supabase, which improved user engagement by 30%.
- Automating data workflows using Python and SQL during my internship at Kouzina Food Tech, enhancing backend scalability.
I’m also passionate about open-source collaboration and have contributed to projects through Code-Charity, where I addressed bugs and collaborated with multi-disciplinary teams using Git.
Why Service Queues?
The Service Queues project resonates with me because it combines frontend UI/UX improvements with backend optimization, which aligns with my skill set. I’m particularly drawn to:
- UI/UX Enhancements: Updating the app’s design to match OpenMRS standards and creating reusable widgets for consistent data display.
- Backend Optimization: Building a dedicated REST endpoint to streamline data fetching and improve performance.
I believe my experience with React, RESTful APIs, and agile methodologies make me a strong fit for this project. Additionally, I’m eager to contribute to a tool that directly impacts healthcare delivery and patient care.
Next Steps
I’d love to get involved with the community and start contributing to the project. Could you please guide me on:
- How to set up the OpenMRS O3 development environment?
- Are there any good first issues or tasks I can work on to familiarize myself with the codebase?
- Any additional resources or documentation I should review?
I’m excited to collaborate with the OpenMRS community and contribute to this impactful project. Looking forward to your guidance and feedback!
Thank you, Pranjal Agrawal
