All accepted GSoC 2016 students are required to post at least one blog entry every week during GSoC. Start now so you get in the habit of writing a post every week!
You don’t have to create a new blog for GSoC; it’s even better to use an existing one, if you have something appropriate already. You can use any traditional blog service that you wish, or you can host your own. I strongly encourage you to create a category or tag for your OpenMRS posts. Just make sure it has an RSS feed available that can show your OpenMRS/GSoC posts.
Some free-of-charge ideas for blogging platforms, if you don’t have one yet:
I would strongly recommend you all not make a blog solely for GSoC and instead make one that you will continue to use beyond GSoC! I see a lot of you making blogs solely for GSoC and this is not intent we had in making you make a blog. We want you to continue blogging after GSoC.
If you made your blog already and it has 2016 in the url, – change it now to something that will be permanent. @ch3ck you’re among this list. Consider it ;).
I strongly agree with the comment from @r0bby. Especially as a student, a blog for all your open source development work & other related tech topics will really help to improve your “portfolio” and the online presence you have for potential employers.
Finally having finally worked on my personal website for over 2 weeks, it’s up and ready with my integrated blog. Here it is: http://blog.shreyans-sheth.me. (I’ve had to change this a couple of time but now it’s done. Few problems with the jekyll theme)
Do review the site as well and tell me what you think! Cheers
PS: I finally shifted to jekyll (which is awesome), integrated Disqus comments and got the RSS running. @michael all done!
Due to technical issues with my OpenMRS blog, i have created another one to be sure everything moves smoothly during the summer. https://ivange94blog.wordpress.com/blog/
