Hello Michael!

My name is Sehej, I am from California. OpenMRS is very interesting, I’ve never seen anything like it before; it is unique in functionality and design. I love to code; especially Object Oriented Programming in Java, Android Development, and Web Development with HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript!

Hi I’m Margeaux DeRaedt and I am 15 and from the USA. I am pretty new to coding, but I know HTML and CSS. I am currently learning JavaScript and Python. I am really excited to learn more from Google Code-in and complete new tasks! This is my first time participating in Google Code-in and I think it is great. I have been looking for different projects to get into technology, and this is perfect. Aside from coding, I enjoy playing guitar, ukelele, and bass. I love everything sci-fi, outer space, and adventurous. I also read like it’s my job.

Thank you for this great opportunity, I really look forward to meeting people in technology and getting started!

Hi everyone, I am Eddie Salvatierra from MD. I just found out about GCI and GSoC, so this is my first time around. I am learning Java in school for AP Computer Science this year, and am self-taught in a few other languages, like C. I joined this project because I want to learn some real-world programming experience and improve my skills. I am very interested in programming and am constantly trying to learn something new (currently that something is Perl). I also love fishing, kayaking, ice hockey, and I run track for my school. I hope to contribute a lot to this project, and I hope I can learn a lot from the experience.

Hello everyone! I’m Daniar Imanbayev, a 15 year old high school junior from Oregon. This is my first time participating in the google code-in, and I want to get straight to coding and wrapping up some tasks. I don’t quite understand all these preliminary steps and git and stuff, but I have worked with similar things before. I’ve used Javascript, JQuery, and HTML to create a mobile website for a healthcare organization through an internship, but I want to try new things. I will be asking many questions

Hey Guys, I am Yashas. I am participating in Google Code In for the first time. I feel very lucky to have found OpenMRS and be a part of it. I am a student from India who is passionate about programming and learning more about computers…technology, etc.

Google Code In gives opportunity for young students to showcase their talent and at the same time help and contribute to Open Source projects. I was researching about OpenMRS to write a article. In the process, I learnt a lot aout it . . . how it helped people . . . . how developers from different countries work together as a community to develop OpenMRS. Now, I feel good to be part of the OpenMRS community. I am a Java programmer but not an expert. I am learning more in Java and I will definitely look forward to be an OpenMRS developer.

Some of my interests in technology are AI, Hacking and Cryptography (though I am a Newbie). I really like coding and developing apps and software and leaning more programming languages!!

A few people I know here are Harsha Siriwardena and Saptarshi Purkayastha. And thanks guys for helping me out on my first task!!:smile::smile:

Hi my name is Hunter Jarrell. I am 15 years old and I live in Florida. I found OpenMRS to be interesting because I’ve been learning Java for 3 years. I am interested in how actual programming projects work instead of just assignments from school. I also like to bike and build electronics.

Hi, I’m Josephine from the DC area, and I’m new to open source. I have always liked technology and code, but I’ve never done any coding for real-life application, so GCI seemed like a great opportunity to me. OpenMRS has many practical and applicable features that I think could be especially valuable to third-world countries–and what better way to apply code than to help? As for interests, I mostly immerse myself in puzzles and photography. I look forward to working with everyone!

Hi, my name is Imran Tatriev. I’m 16 and like to work with C++/Qt. The reason is why I am here - I want to open new branches of programming world and contribute OpenSource Organization. OpenMRS is the best way I can do it, because here I can use programming languages and technologies which are new for me as Java, Bootstrap, Selenium, Web etc. I’m earning the cool experience with you guys  Also, I can help thousands people by doing my work.

Hi Steph! My name is Theresa, 15, from Ghana, and this is my first time participating as well. From the ‘getting started’ page on the GCI website, I got the impression that the focus isn’t really to work on a ton of projects like a “robot” but to really get to know the community of your chosen organization, answer questions of fellow users, and possibly even suggest tasks, all of which lead to gaining knowledge and improving open source software. I hope this helped and have fun coding!:+1:

Hello, I’m Buck! I’m 17 and I live in Texas. I play varsity football at my school and also guitar and piano. Programming is awesome, and I can’t wait to learn more! I started out programming in Java because my first couple projects were Minecraft mods. However, I’m now deep into Codecademy and web dev. I can go on and on about the similarities between learning to code and learning how to play a rock band instrument like guitar, piano, or bass. I’d really like to be apart of an open-source project, and OpenMRS looks like a noble cause, so I think I’ll stick around!
