Encouraging Diversity and Inclusion

My friend’s wife conducted a study recently studying the difficulty women have in persisting in STEM fields (Science, Tech, Engineering, Math) and looking at a particular intervention that increased their likelihood of persisting: https://asunow.asu.edu/20160909-solutions-asu-stemming-academic-gender-gap

Reading this made me think of OpenMRS. I don’t think this necessarily applies just to women, but also for underrepresented folks where someone may feel more intimidated at participating. I think it’s an important reminder to reach out and make sure they are encouraged to keep engaging in the work we do. And in light of the upcoming Uganda meeting, maybe a reminder to make the extra effort to encourage those folks to attend if they are able.
