Design Forum 2018-10-31: Unblock Reference Application 2.9 Release

Wednesday’s design forum is from 6-7 pm UTC:

Unblock Reference Application 2.9 Release

Description: The issue tracking page has been carried forward for several releases and has gotten outdated (e.g., module ownership). Reuban (release manager) does not have the information he needs to decide on which modules to prioritize for RefApp 2.9 or who the correct contact for getting modules released. Darius & Burke did an initial pass at cleaning up the ownership information. We need to gather a group of seasoned developers to help decide on what can be feasibly done to get RefApp 2.9 released soon. The goal of this meeting is to provide @reubenv with a clear path forward for module changes to include with RefApp 2.9 .

A reminder we need all hands on deck at the top of the hour to help @reubenv come up with an actionable plan to get Reference Application 2.9 released. Any & all module developers who can help us get Reference Application 2.9 released are encouraged to attend uberconference at 2p ET / 6p UTC / 9p EAT.

The goal is to run through the RefApp 2.9 issue tracking page and make decisions so, by the end of the call, @reubenv (our release manager) has a clear & viable path forward.

Thanks for attending!

Thanks a ton @burke for taking the lead on this. The session was extremely informative and productive. Hopefully, I am able to get things moving faster now.

A shout out to @mogoodrich and @mseaton for helping out the with a demo on releasing modules!

You are welcome @reubenv, I hope my quick demo helped!

Let’s set a deadline for getting all the modules released, and I will aim to make it… my schedule is crazy busy over the next couple months, so doubtful it will happen without a deadline…

Take care, Mark

For what it’s worth, it looks like the 1.10 version of appointment scheduling has not yet been published to bintray… I always forgot how/if this operated automatically… @reubenv it would be worth checking tomorrow and seeing if it shows up, and/or look for previous threads/documentation concerning this. (I’ll skim quickly now and post anything I find).

Take care, Mark

I just skimmed it, but this appears to be a relevant thread:

Hi @mogoodrich , I just checked Bintray, turns out that the version now shows up! Although, I’m not sure if it was released manually or automatically via the CI script we ran the other day.

As mentioned by you, I will set up a timeline by which we can have the modules released. I will also try releasing a few modules in the next few days and keep you informed regarding the same

@reubenv, sounds good!

@mogoodrich , How is Appointment Scheduling UI released? as in, I do not find any dedicated Jira project for this module. So, does that mean that we just run the CI plan directly?( I hope to release some of the modules staged for release by you as well so as to reduce your workload)

I just maintain the Appointment Scheduling UI releases within the main Appt Scheduling JIRA project… you’ll see there is an unreleased version called “APP-SCH-UI-1.8.0” or something like that.

That being said, in this case there are no changes since 1.7.0, so I don’t think a new release is needed and we can use the 1.7.0 version.
