Custom Module for Patient Registration with Unique Identifier - Emmanuel Katto

Hi All, I am Emmanuel Katto. I’m trying to implement a custom module for patient registration with a unique identifier. Currently, OpenMRS assigns a UUID to each patient record, but I need to generate a unique identifier that is specific to my organization.

I’ve reviewed the OpenMRS documentation and the existing modules, but I’m having trouble finding the right approach to implement this feature. Can someone tell me how can I create a custom module for patient registration that integrates with the existing OpenMRS platform?

Are you looking to have a practitioner to the patient registration or are you looking for the patient to do their own registration through some sort of patient Portal or web form?
