Claude Code Setup

Dear all,

It’s been a long time. It’s great to see so many posts from familiar faces.

I’ve started using Claude Code fairly regularly and wanted to set up a new project on my machine to work on some tickets. Would love to hear how others have set up their environments. I’m avoiding IDEs like cursor for now and prefer to use the Claude Code desktop app.

I’m yet to wire up an environment to contribute to an open source project. I would guess there are a number of Claude subagents, skills, plugins, etc. that could (and should) be used by the community to facilitate consistency.

I couldn’t find any work on this but perhaps it’s there - perhaps a community GitHub repo for this?

Thanks and looking forward to reconnecting.

JJ

It has indeed been a long time and great to see you again!

We are at a stage of exploring this in different ways (some use IDEs, others the Desktop app, others the CLI).

We explored CodeRabbit for code reviews and it did not meet our needs. We are not trying out Greptile.

We do not yet have community established agents, skills, plugins, etc. But getting there in bits. We are currently trying to set up some sort of OpenMRS Agentic pipeline with the guidance of @paynejd where the journey starts from automatic ticket curation all the way up to raising a pull request ready for human review.

Otherwise, you are very welcome to join us as we together figure out a way of making OpenMRS to be one of the first and best AI native open source communities in the world!
