Can We Auto-Calculate Drug Quantities to Dispense? (Currently Manual Entry in RefApp)

There are quite a few edge cases to consider. A few of them:

  1. Where a drug is dosed in a form different than it’s dispensed in
  2. Some selectable durations are ambiguous, e.g., would “3 months” mean: 89-92 days (calendar months), 90 days (assumed 30-day months) or something else?
  3. Drugs ordered “PRN” need an explicit amount to dispense, since there isn’t enough dosing information
  4. Things dosed in non-whole units may need additional care to ensure that they are accurate.
