Please find notes here

Thanks for the meeting notes the very interesting, could ask one question though… Considering the stricter query demands in MySQL 8 and the reported slowdowns, what proactive measures are we implementing to ensure a smooth transition for current implementations, especially those using older database versions?

We will be doing community sessions for the upgrades. In brief

  • You can restore your older db on mysql 8, but you may want to set certain parameters - like ONLY_FULL_GROUP_BY to disabled.
  • During our upgrade tests, whenever we are finding slow queries or queries that are problematic, we are trying to improve them. We realize that some of these queries are changed by implememters - and we will obviously detail them in the release notes. Implementers can see the replacement queries and potentially change/improve their customizations.
  • You can obviously retain your older mysqk 5.x - although most cloud IaaS/PaaS, are either already not supporting them or charging hefty fee for extended support. But for on-prem or self-hosted - this is still a viable option.

@mohant anything more you want to add?
