☕ Backend Coffee Breaks & Live Debugging Sessions?

Hey team! :waving_hand:

I hope you’re all doing great. I’ve been learning Java lately and I’m really inspired by how the frontend team holds daily live debugging sessions and it’s such a great way to learn collaboratively!

I was wondering if the backend team also has something similar like coffee break sessions, live debugging, or even casual knowledge-sharing meetups? Especially since I heard Java is heavily used on the backend here, I’d really love to sit in and observe how you tackle real-time issues and workflows.

Please let me know if such sessions happen and if possible, how I could join in or learn from them :folded_hands:. @mozzy @dkayiwa @ibacher @samuel34 @ndacyayisenga

Thanks to you All, Sebaana Yusuf Salim

We used to have them as OMRS Dev Office Hours but decided to merge them with the daily coffee breaks because we did not want to promote a culture of separate frontend and backend teams. That is why you will notice that on those daily coffee breaks, there are sometimes backend questions.

Thanks so much for the clarification, @dkayiwa! :folded_hands:

That makes a lot of sense I really admire the inclusive approach of merging the sessions. It’s actually encouraging to know that both frontend and backend insights can be shared in the same space.

I’ll definitely make it a point to join more of the daily coffee breaks so I can learn from those backend discussions too. Looking forward to picking up more knowledge from you and the rest of the team.

Thanks again for the guidance and I hope to keep in touch and continue growing within the community!
