Dear members,
Following our recent AI call, we discussed the need for dedicated time where people can share updates and progress, present specific difficulties and problematic areas they have encountered, and showcase their work, including challenges and success stories.
EMR4All has proposed hosting a hackathon to boost progress in developing practical solutions that support OpenMRS, addressing both the patient and technical sides with a strong emphasis on local models and accessible AI that link up with the EMR. The aim is to create a collection of AI modules that can be made available to the wider community.
We need volunteers to join the coordination team and help prepare for the event. The concept paper is below.
@bennyange What a great initiative — AI is one of the most exciting topics to be exploring right now. A hackathon sounds like a perfect way to share these ideas, collaborate, and turn the ideas into something that makes a real difference for the community.
Thanks @veronica totally agree, OpenMRS AI needs to advance to the next level. For now, there are scattered works which need to be capitalised to support the AI portfolio moving forward.
We need a few people to help organise the Hackathon event and decide on the best time to host it.
