Achieved /dev/1 status seeking guidance on next contributions (GSoC 2026 prep)

Hi everyone :waving_hand:

I’m happy to share that I’ve recently achieved /dev/1 contributor status in OpenMRS.

I’ve started contributing to openmrs-esm-core and recently opened my first PR to improve unit test coverage for the OpenmrsDatePicker component, focusing on accessibility and locale-specific behavior.

PR: O3-3853: Improve unit test coverage for Datepicker by adarshiiit0117 · Pull Request #1533 · openmrs/openmrs-esm-core · GitHub

At the moment, I don’t yet have comment/claim access on Jira issues, so I’m exploring issues independently and contributing where possible. I’d really appreciate guidance on:

  • beginner to intermediate frontend/core issues that are good next steps

  • how best to get involved with code reviews and ongoing PRs

I’m preparing seriously for GSoC 2026 and plan to contribute consistently. Thanks to the community for the support so far — looking forward to learning and contributing more :slightly_smiling_face:
