Why can't I install Platform 1.9 with Java 8?

Platform 1.9.10

I am trying to run Platform 1.9.10, java 8, it fails and gives an exception but runs well with java 6, what could be the problem?

The error displayed is:

OpenMRS requires Java 6, but is running under 1.8.0_25
org.openmrs.api.APIException: OpenMRS requires Java 6, but is running under 1.8.0_25

does it mean i should just use the lower version?

I know this might be late but hope you not still facing this issue :slight_smile: . The answer to your problem is in your problem. I think only Platform 1.11.x+ and 2.0+ run on java8. For lower versions you need java7 or 6 as you just noticed.
