Hello all, My name is Alex and I’m a Drexel student studying Software Engineering currently graduating with both a BS and MS this June. As part of one of my courses I’ll be (or attempting to be) contributing to this project in some way hopefully. I’m currently looking through the open issues for one that seems doable within the next few weeks. If all goes well I might even be able to stick around and get more down after as I am looking for a project to work on in my spare time now. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I’m Rofael, a third year CS student at the Univerisity of Alabama at Birmingham, although technically this is my first semester in CS (I transferred from BME with Java experience). I’d love to expose myself to the world of open source and start that experience with OpenMRS. I have family members in medicine, volunteered at hospitals, and shadowed physicians and the one thing I constantly hear about is the world of EMR systems, so I’d love to see what the big deal is from the inside.

Once I get approved for helpdesk access, I’ll be looking for any issues to tackle and see if I can handle this. If I can, I wish to continue contributions and possibly participate in this year’s GSoC here.

I look forward to working on OpenMRS!

Hi,

I am a software developer from Hong Kong. I have worked for a few Internet startups and done research projects in universities. However, none of them provide me with production-level experience in healthcare space. I joined this project hoping to learn more about best practice in health IT.

In terms of programming, I am a jack of all trades - did both frontend / backend in the past.

Cheers, Kenneth

Hello everyone, I am a final year undergraduate from Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa. I’m new to OpenMRS, however, I value openSource communities a lot and I would like to contribute in strengthening the openSource project. Having gone through the available project list and the required competencies, I am interested in “Open Concept Lab enhancements” project. I will configure the project in my development environment and if I encountered difficulties, I’ll ring a bell.

Thank you. Git : https://github.com/ahamedifham

Hi everyone! My name is Ned Henry. I develop open source software for a living at UC Santa Cruz Library, and I’m also a volunteer medic at the Berkeley Free Clinic in Berkeley, CA. I find what I have seen of OpenMRS to be really exciting, and I’m grateful that there is a community of people maintaining this kind of project.

The Berkeley Free Clinic has been trying to implement various commercial EHR systems including PracticeFusion and AthenaHealth, but we have had trouble making the transition. I am now trying to convince the rest of the clinic that OpenMRS would meet our clinic’s needs better than any of these systems, because it is community supported and is not optimized for fee-for-service care. I have set up an instance of the Reference Application and am currently configuring it to match our workflow. I would love your support as I get up to speed on this software. If I can convince the rest of our members that this software will work for us, I will definitely plan to contribute development cycles to improving this platform.

Cheers! Ned

Hello all,

I am Chanuka Wijayakoon from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. I’m a 3rd year student in Computer Science & Engineering. I’ve made a few patient management systems for medical labs & clinics previously and came across OpenMRS when OpenMRS co-founder Paul Biondich & Suranga Kasthurirathne made a surprise visit to our university in 2016. They gave a wonderful insight into how OpenMRS works and inspired us to get involved.

I would love to join the OpenMRS dev community and make a contribution that will help people around the world.

Cheers!

Hello @tj513,

Please add your GitHub ID to your profile. There’s a field in https://talk.openmrs.org/users/tj513/preferences in your case.

I’m sure you already went through the Getting Started guide at https://wiki.openmrs.org/display/docs/Getting+Started+as+a+Developer.

The project you’ve chosen has a dedicated page at GSOC 2017 FHIR Module Enhancements Project. You can talk with the assigned mentor there.

Hope this helps!
